A "Good" President Then and Now
Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) was the 32nd president of the United States. His term was March 4th, 1933 - April 12th, 1945. FDR was considered an awesome President to the majority of Americans and he was considered a not so good President to other Americas. FDR was paralyzed from the waist down by a disease called Polio. FDR had an administration that represents change to the presidential method.
I believe that he was a good President because he formed plenty of programs, deals, and laws that effect us Americans positively today. A good President back then was about his country, did not discriminate between races, and helped all areas of society not just what would help his race.
FDR would restore confidence in American people so they can trust him. He would restore confidence by holding "fireside chats" that could be viewed by the public. FDR would state everything that is happening in the world that could effect America, and he also would state his plan of action to the public. FDR stated "We have nothing to fear but fear itself" this means that Americans fear is the only thing that is in the way and making things worse. In his first 100 days he pushed new legislation's through congress very quickly, he would start "New Deal" programs. The "New Deal" programs would provide immediate assistance to the American people in the form of relief, recovery, and reform. Relief is when the government provides direct aid in the form of food, clothes, shelter, etc. Recovery is when the government provides job programs to put people to work. And reform is when the government or president changed how the economy works to prevent future issues. Some official actions that FDR took was a Bank holiday that would pass inspection on March 6th 1933. Another first official action was, "The Emergency banking bill" which meant that all banks that could meet financial obligations of their customers were allowed to reopen. FDR broke precedent and ran for President 4 times and won all of the reelections. This shows how good of a person and President he really was. FDR always thought outside the box.
Today Americans society is not right and it is messed up. Currently, we have a president that only handles problems that will make the rich people richer and the poor people poorer. Our current president should think about all of America and every single person that lives in this country. Our "President" shouldn't ban people from America just because they are from another country. I believe that FDR was a good President compared to our president now. FDR showed that he cared for his people and that didn't wanna let them down.
