Capitalism vs.Communism vs. Today Capitalism and Communism are very different from each other. These preferences of a type of government do not go together. One major difference between both styles of government is the “means of production”. Communism is a totalitarian government. A totalitarian government is when the government has total control over the public and private lives of actions of the citizens of that state. Meaning that everything that you own, everything you do is controlled and owned by the government. If you live in a house, that house isn’t really yours, it’s owned by your government. Your house can be taken away from you without your control. Also in a communist government, no free enterprise is allowed. Free enterprise is the freedom for private businesses to operate for a profit without interference from the government. Wealth is distributed equally throughout the people. There is no class difference, everybody is equal to each other. The main f...

Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) was the 32nd president of the United States. His term was March 4th, 1933 - April 12th, 1945. FDR was considered an awesome President to the majority of Americans and he was considered a not so good President to other Americas. FDR was paralyzed from the waist down by a disease called Polio. FDR had an administration that represents change to the presidential method. I believe that he was a good President because he formed plenty of programs, deals, and laws that effect us Americans positively today. A good President back then was about his country, did not discriminate between races, and helped all areas of society not just what would help his race. FDR would restore confidence in American people so they can trust him. He would restore confidence by holding "fireside chats" that could be viewed by the public. FDR would state everything that is happening in the worl...

Eugenics is a "science" that deals with the improvement of genetics over time. This movement has impacted so many lives across the whole world. Today there are technologies that make it possible to alter one's genetics. I believe that eugenics is a way to discriminate people, not only because of their race and the color of their skin but also because of their past ancestors and whether they were good enough for society or if they can be successful in life back then. In 1883, Sir Francis Galton (from Britain) first used the term eugenics meaning "well-born". Galton believed that this can direct the future of human race, by selecting "desired traits" in individuals. Galton studied pedigrees, on what they are and how they can be used significantly. There is positive and negative eugenics. Positive eugenics is an increase in sexual reproduction for people with desired traits. And negative eugenics is to reduce the rates of production ...
Child Labor in History v. Now

Child Labor in History v. Now I believe that child labor is one of the most horrifying movements in American history. To sit here and think that little children had to work adult hours and do adult tasks is sickening. They were paid very little money. Children mostly worked in factories, to the factory owners, the children were cheaper, easier to intimidate, and more manageable in the factory. The work environment for the children was dirty and unsanitary, and they also were tight in space. Because of their size, they could fit into smaller spaces versus the adults. It was hard for children to work those long hours because their bodies were too small and they can only take so much. The work environment was so dangerous that there would be injuries almost every day in the factories. For example, hair would get caught in the machines and get ripped out completely off their heads. Some other injuries are burns on their hands and a lot of broken limbs as we...

Yes!!!!! A haunting past can affect societies present day. Some people may not know that the historic past can affect what happens in our present day. Historical events can affect the way the government and even our neighbors beliefs and thoughts are today. I myself, truly believe that everything that happens in history has a good outcome and even a bad outcome today. On Sept 11th, 200l there was a traumatic disaster in New York. Islamic extremist high jacked several airplanes and crashed them into the twin towers in New York. More than 3,000 people were killed in this incident. After 15 mins of the crash, one tower came crashing down and collapsed. Not to long after the second building collapsed. I believe this was a devastation to all of the U.S. This disastrous event changes the nations way of thinking like the attitudes and concerns about our safety today. On Sept 15th, 1963, a bomb exploded in a black church rig...
